OnLocation & Premiere Pro on an Intel Atom system?

Hi there,

I'm considering getting an Intel Atom-based system (the Lenovo IdeaPad S10E Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz 1GB RAM 160GB HDD 10.1 TFT Webcam XP) for capturing DV over firewire using Adobe OnLocation (the IdeaPad has an ExpressCard/34 expansion slot which I could use to add firewire).

Just wondering if anyone has tried running OnLocation on an Intel Atom processor for capturing DV. Did it work OK? How about HDV???

How about Premiere Pro editing DV on an Intel Atom system? Is it doable?!? (Sure, I know it'll be sluggish... but is it vaguely usable for those occasions when it's necessary to do a bit of cutting on location?)

Many thanks,
Jack

I was happily editing DV with CS3 on my old singlecore Pentium M 1,7 GHz under Vista (!). I haven`t tried (and won`t) CS4 on it, but I have completed several HDV 720p shootings with Onlocation CS3 on this laptop, albeit with half-playback rate preview (recording was full quality full framerate of course).

I guess Atom N270, being single core as well, will be capable of handling the same.

Many thanks for the quick reply.

My understanding is that the Atom is quite a "cut-down" processor and I'm a little nervous that the Atom may not work well with OnLocation (even though the Pentium M works well).

Just wondering if anyone has actually used an Intel Atom with OnLocation and/or Premiere???
