HD footage and PP CS4 outing to SD
 

I have my timeline filled with .m2t files and Im gonna end up with a standard def dvd in the end.

Should I export it to a regular .avi file and let Encore render it to SD or is there a better way??

Why add the extra step? If you have CS4 Production Premium you can use Dynamic Link to go directly from PP to Encore. The downsampling conversion should happen automagically when Encore transcodes. I have CS3 which operates this way. CS4 shouldn't be that much different.

If you want high quality downsampling from HD to SD make sure and check the "Use Maximum Render Quality" check box in Encore. Access this feature by right clicking your video in the "Project" window and select "Transcode Settings".

I"ve been trying to render a long wedding edit I've just completed. It is a mix of AVCHD @1280x720 @60fps and SD footage. My sequences are edited in 1280x720 @60fps. The edits are complete, but if I use Dynamic link in encore and render a DVD from there, my AVCHD video has video glitches where it skips and then repeats frames as well as audio somtimes being off. The parts that are SD do not have these issues.

I've tried rendering out MPEG2 DVD profiles directly from premiere and the same thing happens which makes me think it's an encoding issue with AVCHD. It's random and won't happen in the same place twice.

Anyone else have this issue? Currently I am rerendering things again overnight using the MPEG2 BluRay profile. I did a short test and it looked fine, but again, it's random. I'll see tomorrow if all is well, if not, I need to find another format that could work even if it means double encoding once it's in encore. (i think I"ll be double rendering now as I'm going from the 720p format down to SD but whatever works at this point. I've been at this issue for 2 days).

I did a render to FLV and didn't have these issues, so it can't be the raw files issue directly.
