time clock

Greeting Adobe Premiere Users,

I have just recently began working with CS4 premiere after being a long time Vegas Pro user. I basically just like to be be able to work with both to use their advantages over the other. After looking at the software I could not figure out a way to make a time clock on a transparent backround. In Vegas I make a transparent still title and in vegas I can maninpulate wether or a time code shows on the title. If I want it to count backwards I just set the time code in at a negative number and the length of the clip to be the same and the clock appears in the title and is counting backwards as if it were a time clock at a sporting event. Is there another way to make a time clock in premiere similar to this or how?

Thanks Much

You mean like burned-in TC? Couple of ways.

If just on a single shot, just drag the TIMECODE effect (Effects Tab in Project Window > Video Effects > Video > Timecode) onto the clip in the timeline, open up the effects control tab in the source monitor and play with the settings there.

If over a whole sequence consisting of many shots, create New > Transparent Video. Place it on a track above your main video and add the TIMECODE effect to that.

When doing four camera roughcuts, I use a combination of both. It's then easy to just remove the timecode for rendering to final output.

This is for CS3 and I assume that CS4 is similar.

Edit: Just checked CS4 help and the procedure is the same.
