Premier Pro CS4 won't recognize Sony mt2s files at DVinfo.net

A friend is trying to get new video footage into his Magix or Adobe Premier ProCS4 but the format he downloaded from his Sony camera is .m2ts and non of the two programs recognise the format. CS4 say it supports mt2s but he cant get the files to load.
