simple crop and border with Premier CS5

The latest version of Adobe CS5 doesn't include many of the simplest effects that CS4 has. One is to just add a border, size, choose color and crop. I can hardly believe this very rudimentary yet useful effect is no longer there.

Even New Blue Effects doesn't have this option and feature.

How are any of you doing this?

Totally flying blind here, as I have CS4 and can't identify the tool you're speaking of, but here is a possible workaround: CS5 still has the crop tool, according to the cs5 help file. So crop. In Titler, make a rectangular box covering the video image you just cropped. Select "eliminate" in the type popup. In the stroke field, select Outer>add; select color in the color swatch and make the size to cover the frame outside the video image. See attached jpeg.....

Sounds like there must be an easier way....and forgive me if I have misinterpreted what it is you're trying to do...

If Battle's image is the look you are looking for, then the simplest suggestion would be to add a sold colour matte on the lower track, with the footage above it. Then simply crop or scale down the footage.

I think Bob means the Clip effect: that was last used in Ppro2.

Make sure you untick scale and set it manually because it does not make a perfect even boarder.
Then nest the two images and motion, scale or rotate as much as you like.
