LUT Buddy vs. S-Curve preset?

I've been playing around with color correction of clips produced using Technicolor's CineStyle custom camera setting for Canon, and if I understand the process correctly, the options available to me are: 1) go full manual, 2) use an S-curve preset such as the one provided on Tim Kang's website, or 3) use Red Giant LUT Buddy. BTW, I'm using Adobe Pro CS5.5.
Color correcting manually is a bit daunting for me at present, and LUT Buddy really bogs down my computer, which is no slouch. Seems like I get very good results using Tim's S-curve preset, which he says he hand coded from Technicolor's own S-curve LUT. Another nice thing about using a preset is that I can tweak the curve, whereas LUT Buddy is hard-coded. Am I missing something here? Is there an advantage to using LUT Buddy versus a simple preset that I'm not seeing?
