HDV capture with XLR audio
 

I'm looking to move away from a newtek tricaster for recording video podcasts, which i later edit in premiere, to capturing directly into my PC that runs premiere pro.

I quickly found out that I can't capture audio from an XLR mic plugged in via a usb box if i am using the adobe premiere capture video process, since it can only capture video and audio from the same firewire device (the camera).

is there some kind of all in one box that would allow me to capture video through a firewire connection and audio through an XLR input, that maybe comes with its own software, and that would also create a file that premiere can import and interpret properly in HD? or, what other solutions exist that would work for what I'm trying to do?

Just get a camwra with XLR port or get an Xlr adapter like a Beachtek or Juicelink and feed the camera and then capture all in firewire to Adobe, But these days with HDV phasing out, why not just go to avchd recording and drop files on your timeline for final edit and color correction. Hey Chris, thanks for the reply! A couple of questions:

1) If I use a beachtek or juicelink XLR adapter, will those work if I am running my XLR mic through a DBX voice processor? In other words, do those types of adapters work with audio running through a preamp processor?

2) If I were to look at an AVCHD camera, what is the entry level price I'd have to spend to get something that will take XLR and create a format that works well with premiere? also same question about the dbx voice processor if I were to go AVCHD, would that work?
