PluralEyes the best to match video?

Hi there,

I last was heavy into video editing with Final Cut Pro and Premiere back in 2002-04, and I always had to manually sync up the video from different cameras. Now I'm getting back into it again and a peer has suggested that I purchase PluralEyes to sync up the footage for me. I just wanted to check to see if anyone had any other suggestions.

Thanks,
Ron

Thanks for that link, Donald. Definitely going to give Plural Eyes a try.

For basic synching, the built-in Synchronize feature in Premiere Pro CC normally does it for me. I only break out to Pluraleyes if it's a lot of tracks, or if Premiere has problems with synching the material.

Does Plural Eyes work to sync multiple angles? I wanted to find something to sync up multiple video files for live events to speed up my work flow.

PluralEyes works with audio and ignore the video content.

Both PluralEyes and Premiere's built-in synch will synchronize videos and audio.

I've used them to synchronise 3 GoPros and a camcorder and Tascam recorded. Puts all the audio and video in the right place. This is an example of using PluralEyes instead of Adobe's more basic Synchronisation.

About a 2 months ago, BH had a killer deal on the Tascam DR05 and Plural Eyes was included free for $79! I picked it up. The DR05 is a very impressive audio recorder, and at that price, excellent to have in your bag of tricks. (I also have the DR40 and love it)

Anyways, I use Premiere Pro CS5 and have been manually syncing multi camera shoots (weddings) for years and years. What I've found in the 2 test weddings I did with Plural Eyes 3 (which is a significant upgrade over version 2 based on everything I've read), is that it works fantastic.

The overall deal with exporting final cut xml files out of PP was brand new to me and it did take me a while to get comfortable with it. But it's a snap once you do it a few times.

The Problem I had with importing the new xml directory into Premiere was, all the audio was converted to mono tracks - so it doubled the number of audio tracks one for left and one for right. In some cases, not only do I have 3 camera audio tracks, but also 2 external audio recorders which totals 10 tracks upon re-import into premiere. From there though, it's pretty simple to delete them a set at a time, and then drag over the "correct" stereo audio to match the appropriate clip... and then from there begin audio editing down to the final takes.

That's just something to be aware of.

Overall the syncing on my custom 2011 i7 2600 K with 16GB RAM and SSDs goes pretty fast... a minute or so to do all the syncing for 5 sources like that.
