Trimmed project - way too big!

Hi All - I have a 2 minute long sequence consisting of about 90 clips and want to export a new trimmed project so I can delete the master clips but the project manager is telling me the resultant project will be 70GB - from a 2 minute sequence?

I don't get it - a 10 minute HDV video file is only 2GB so why would my 2 minute sequence be 70GGB? Even allowing for 50 frame handles for each clip.

So I let it do it's thing and it has basically collected all the master files in a new location without trimming them - even though I selected 'Create new trimmed project'

Any ideas?

Pete

Well I think I've answered my own question - I've read that trimming does not work with HDV footage!

Anyone know a workaround?

To export 90 separate clips would take an age :(

Peter,

I answered this then realized this was the Premiere forum and not Sony Vegas so I deleted. Have you considered using an intermediate format like Cineform? I think AVI would archive properly, at least it does in Sony Vegas. The only other option I know of is to export each clip section you use on the timeline and replace the originals which I agree is a pain. Seems like these programs should be able to render and replace as necessary for a project archive.
