Converting to flash video

Hello all:

First off, is there a plugin for Premiere (6.5) that allows for converting to flash video off the time line?

If not, will the flash encoder import a DV file as is for conversion?

Any dos and don'ts when editing a video to be converted to flash? That is, are there any issues with panning speed, or speed ramping that do not hold up after the conversion?

Thanks for any advise you can provide on this.

George

I don't think you can with P6.5. You need a transcoder, and the best one I've used comes with Flash 8.

The best way to get good results transcoding to FLV is to not over compress, and keep the same frame rate as the original footage.

You can see some short films using FLV on my website.

I'm currently trying out the trial of Swish Video 2 ($50) and it seems to do OK with full-res DV files. It has crashed a few times, but the finished product otherwise looks good.

Why are you using 6.5??? Premier Pro is more than worth the investment. Even Premier Elements for $80 is probably bettern than earlier versions of Premier.

Hi, I attened a webinar today with Adobe about Streaming vrs. Progressive Flash Server. They are pushing a codec from on2. Here is a cool site demo comparing the codec to others - http://www.flashvideofaq.com/ . It is expensive - well compared to the free ones. I would like to know if it is worth it.

Premiere Pro 2.0 comes bundled with the On2 VP6 codec for Flash video. I just tried it recently, and I was impressed with the quality.
