Question Re: 24P

I use an XL2 and have been editing 24P footage. I edit in a 24P timeline in PP2. I've notticed that a lot of the newer DVD players claim to play back "progressive scan" DVD's. My question is: can I export to a DVD in 24 progressive, play back through on of these type of dvd players onto my NTSC TV?

I normally covert up to 60i.

Am I missing something?

Hey Tim,
Yes you can author a 24p DVD and play it on an NTSC television. Your DVD player will automatically add the pulldown so it conforms to the ntsc standard. In fact, most movies you purchase or rent are 24p. You'll see several presets for encoding a 24p mpeg-2 in the Adobe Media Encoder.

Cheers

Kevin-

Thanks...

How about the new high defs or the new digital. Can they do both interlaced and pure pregressive scan without the need to bring in the pull downs.

Thanks again!

Tim

all dvd players will conform a 24p signal to 60i by default, and if the support progressive scan and your display does too, then they will leave the signal alone.

Thanks Bennis.
