Searching for renamed clips
 

I'm editing some interviews on Premiere Pro 2.0. I usually cut each question into a different clip and rename that clip to the topic of the question. I've got a lot of video to go through and it would be great if I could search for these clips I've renamed to make them easy to find, but I haven't been able to find a way to do so.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

I would try expanding your Project window so that it takes up more screen real estate and is easier to browse through. Try rearranging the columns in your project window to give yourself more details regarding the clips in questions - or try adding a column of your own.

You could also try a different work flow and not create subclips for every clip and just take them from the source monitor when needed.

Though I haven't used it much, Adobe Bridge is supposed to be useful for things like this.

I'm working on a hi-res monitor so screen space isn't really an issue. It's the fact that I had (I'm done the project now) over an hour and a half of clips anywhere from 5 seconds to 2 minutes in length, each renamed to make them easier to find. These clips (probably over 100) came from 5 tapes and 5 actual AVI files.

My boss suggested something similar, though I'm not creating subclips. All I'm doing is capturing video, cutting after each question (ctrl-K) or section (ex- team b-roll, player isos, etc), and renaming them as I go (right-click rename).

But you're right, it really just comes down to workflow. I'm still in the process of figuring out the most efficient way of going through lots of footage.

Have you tried using the Scene Detect feature when you capture your footage?

Also, doing an offline capture will allow you to document and categorize all your clips and go online with them when you choose.
