Transformers Optimus Prime Voice
How do I recreate, the latest Transformers film, that big, deep, almost mechanical voice of Optimum Prime.
Any ideas? I figured first to compress the voice, so it has as little dynamic range as possible, the boost the low end, and add mix in a mild oscillator for the mechanical gruff. Still doesn't sound BIG. Please help. |

What plug-ins do you have? the voice is for one thing artificially "Pitched down" that will give you that artificially LOW effect instead of just boosting the low end via EQ. perhaps is what youre missing.

Pitch down
Thanks, I'll try that!

Get a good voice talent. I've seen "untouched" interviews w/the actor that does Prime's voice and 90% of it is him.

You can try using a pitch-shift plugin to lower a voice and then using a distortion plugin. But just like James Earl Jones' Darth Vader voice, it's all in the throat behind the mic.....

Consider using a VOCODER. I have a microkorg Synthesizer with a vocoder built into it
YouTube - Microkorg Vocoder There is also vocoder plugins for creating the effect in post. I believe there is a plugin called the orange vocoder Prosoniq Products Software GmbH OrangeVocoder of course you can also use a talk box YouTube - How Do I Talk On the Talkbox? |
