Experience with PSC and repair
 

Not sure if this is the right place for this but I wanted to share with the folks here a recent experience I had with Professional Sound Corp (PSC) and the repair of a Promix 6 mixer.

Purchased a Promix 6 used on ebay based on description ("great shape") and general positive feedback of the seller. When the mixer arrived, it was NOT in great shape and there were loose components rattling (more like banging) around inside. The mixer was packed poorly with only 2 small pieces of bubble wrap. Either it took a wallop in shipping or it was broken prior to.

I emailed PSC to get an idea as to what a repair might cost. I was told to open the unit and see if the two transformers were intact as they suspected these had broken loose. They were right. They quoted me a repair price range and I sent the unit it. It was received Monday and today I received a call from the tech (Bill) who told me the mixer was put back to factory spec and was being sent out. Total repair came in lower than the bottom of the range quoted.

I have a promix3 and love it and thought the 6 would be a great addition. For the price (including repair) it is.

The real bonus in all of this is that the president of the company was personally responding to my emails (at all hours) and assured me they would take care of me and the mixer. They did. No run around, no BS, just exemplary customer service. Made even more exemplary given that this mixer was well out of warranty. I may have even been the 2nd or third owner. Didn't matter to them.

Bottom line, solid mixer, great customer service and support. They stand behind their gear.

I had the same experience with PSC fixing a noisy pot on our M4 MKII mixer. PSC is a solid, reputable company and I highly recommend considering their products. They make great stuff. Sound Devices mixers seem to be the standard and they are very good but I have always felt that PSC is just as good and a lot less money. More of an underground brand though, a lot of people have never heard of them.
