Which handheld mic to use with EW100 plug on
 

I've got the Sennheiser EW100 kit,the kit with the body pack transmitter and the plug on transmitter.
Can someone recommend a good mic which i can use with the plug on, for use as a interview style mic, ie pass round at weddings or whatever.
Or would i be better off using my ME66 ?

Are proper handheld mics a bit more robust than my ME66,for example people dropping the mic whilst passing it around ?

if you plan on dropping it a lot, a shure sm58 is hard to beat for durability.

I use my g2 plug on transmitter w/ an electrovoice re50 (nd/b model, which has the neodium capsule and is black) and it works a treat. The re50 (usually the plain silver version) is the classic "news journalist standing in a hurricane" mic. Has VERY low handling noise and a good sound even with lots of external noises.

The shure sm58 you can basically hammer with, but i think the reduced handling noise makes the re50 a better "pass it around" mic.

I wouldn't want to pass around an me66. It has too high a handling noise for that, plus people not used to mics tend to hold shotguns funny and try to shout "down the tube".

sm58 runs about $100, re50 around $160.

Vote from me for Electrovoice Re50 or 635a both omni and good reporter mics.

I've got an AKG D230 you're welcome to try, Paul. It's probably not as hot as the Electrovoice RE50 variant with the neodymium magnet, but you might find it'll do, and it's quite a bit cheaper (I paid around £80).

From experience of open mic nights, people unused to mics will speak at all sorts of levels and distances from it, so if it's hooked up to a PA particularly, you might get plenty of feedback if someone isn't keeping a quick finger on the fader.
