Battery and Audio review
 

So this week I decided to take the plunge and pick up a lite panel micro unit which I will review after this weekends event, but with that since it runs off of AA batteries I wanted to test rechargeable batteries.

I picked up the Sony BCG-34HRMF4 Battery Charger with 4 2700mah batteries.

The light ran for quite some time on them so I was sold (more about that when my review goes up next week) and I decided I would try to use them in other equipment.

I always go to costco and buy the bulk AA duracell packs for my wireless and waste 4 per event. These batteries run my Sony wireless system for roughtly 6 hours which is normally more than enough, usually I use them for an hour. I then take the batteries and put them in a drawer at home to use in other home equipment - it keeps filling up because there is NO WAY I would reuse a battery in something as important as the wireless mics - which is also why I decided originally against rechargeable because they werent as powerful or reliable. But with the new tech out there, rechargeables are unbelievable!

I tested them in the sony wireless system with amazing results! The reciever lasted for 12 hours and when that died, the transmitter still had FULL battery life!

The great thing about these batteries and the charger is if there is ever a showing of the memory effect, the charger has a refresh system that will fix your batteries for you and get them back to their original capacity!

I also picked up an olympus ws-311m digital voice recorder to use as a backup mic - its small and slim and can slide into someones pocket easily. The sound quality is pretty damn good! My wireless has never failed (knock on wood) but incase it does the quality of this $75 recorder (plus an ok lav mic) would be more than sufficient to create a great sounding stand in! I plan on picking up a few more of these after I test it out this weekend for musicians, speakers, etc.

I would not use this as my main audio source, but it is definitely sufficient for a backup emergency!

I highly reccomend both and with initial testing I reccomend the LP Micro too...but we'll see if that changes after a real life situation!
