Your opinions on this shotgun mic - EM9600
http://www.smproaudio.com/EM9600.htm
has anyone used this? Also from the spec, do you think it would work nicely with my DVX100? I was lookin at getting a non camera mounted (or even camera mounted) shotgun and found one of these very cheap. just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this |
Just looking on the spec of it, it looks that 40dB SNR is on the lower side. Also, sensitivity is about -50db, if one translates it to the common definition i.e. relative to 1V/Pa. It's a little bit on a weak side, if you don't use a pre-amp. Not catastrophic, but I'd prefer 10db more.
Also, it looks strange they dont offer any type of meaningful spec, like frequency response, directivity diagram, not even size and weight. I'd refrain from buying this unless somebody to whom you trust can report a first-hand experience with this mic. |
Personally, I've never heard of this company and I don't think
with the "known" alternatives that abound I would try it. How much are they asking for one? |
theyre goin for 110 AUD...
i think ill skip it... |
That sounds like a good idea. IMO, there is no reason to spend less and
buy something that's almost worthless. Save up for the Audio Technica 835b as a decent 'starter' shotgun. |
well, im not much of a beginner :)
Just a tight-wad LOL actually its the price that got me interested, i was thinkin of gion another me66 for my dxv... so i can pole the lil bugger... which is why i looked at this as the cable alone is worth about 3/4 of the actual mic (here in aus) still shopping around thou... |
