Anyone used the Hama LM09 Tie Clip Mic? at DVinfo.net

Needing to get a few tie mics (wired) for some interviews coming up... and looking at the HAMA LM09. Around the £20 mark.

I picked up 2 tie mics from Maplin to see what the quality was like, and was pretty shocked. Lots of hiss and ground noise.

Are the Hama's likely to be the same?

The specs are:

* Hama Tie Clip Microphone LM-09
* High-performance, clip-on microphone. Ideal as a reporter’s microphone in the video area. Supplied with clip and windshield.
* Characteristic: omnidirectional
* Frequency range: 50 – 16 000 Hz
* Sensitivity: - 65 dB ± 3 dB
* Impedance: 900 ohms
* Cable: 6 m, with 3.5 mm mono jack plug
* Adapter:6.3 mm mono and 1.5 V battery (not included)

If you have bought this mic, can you let me know your thoughts? Im basically looking for decent quality with no hiss or noise. If there is something else you can recommend, please do.

Don't know anything about those brands but keep in mind that you get what you pay for. Recognized brands like Sanken, Countryman, Tram, Sennheiser, etc run between 5 to 10 times the prices you're quoting and there's a reason for they do.

For a low-cost lav terminated with 3.5mm, people seem to be happy with the Giant Squid mics.
