Importing sound file from Windows Movie Maker
 
Hello all.I have a sound file in the audio track of Windows Movie Maker.It is too loud and therefore distorted.How do I transfer this audio file from Windows Movie Maker into Audacity?Thank you.Linda Michal

A few questions:
How did you create or obtain the sound file and do you know if it's distorted in the original recording or just in playing it back in Windows Movie Maker? Have you adjusted the volume of the clip in Windows Movie Maker? If it's still distorted after lowering the volume then it may be distorted in its original form and there isn't much that can be done if the distortion is severe. Search some threads here for methods to help with clipped or distorted sound recordings but don't expect a complete recovery.
Since you already have the sound file on your computer and imported it into Windows Movie Maker, you should be able to also import the file directly into Audacity, depending on the file type. I don't know of any way to export just a sound file from Windows Movie Maker.
