Apex 175 shotgun
 

Not that I'm going to buy this particular model, mainly because it's too large for my cams, but I had a look at one today which looked very good. It's solid, super-cardioid, and comes with an XLR cable and shoe-mount. I believe the price was $110 Canadian. Has anyone tried this mic or own one? Feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

What's the body made of? If it's plastic or aluminum...I'd shurely shy away.

It's an aluminum body, chinese mic and it is too big for Franks camera. The problem here is budgetary constraints.

This is the ideal microphone for sound reinforcement applications where the microphone needs to have a tight pick-up pattern, but cannot be placed close to the source. Aluminum, and very solid; but, yes, it's too big for my cams. I was just curious about it's audio quality, because it looks like one H_ll of a nice mic---and cheap.

Let's just say it's OK for the money, a fair bit better than the plastic, fine merchandise that's being flogged out there. The specs are basically meaningless. If it sounds OK then it will be OK for a $80US mic.

The Chinese are really becoming aggressive in the mic export market. They do a private label for even small orders.
