Cover for Rycote S-Series
 

I do most of my shooting in remote locations, and have a Rycote S series windshield which has a central carrier and detatchable furry pods which go over each end. The windshield itself is great, but as the fur is permanently attached to the pods, I have never been happy just sticking it in a kitbag for the pods to be squashed or the fur flattened. The supplied packaging is not ideal for field use.

I have come up with the cover sleeve shown in the attached photos. The pipe is polypropylene air conditioning ducting, 120 mm diameter in which the pods fit snugly. It is cut to just over the length of the windshield and a slot cut for the windshield handle. The pipe is rigid enough to protect the windshield, and allows it to be kept ready for use. One issue is the cable which runs from the central ring to an XLR plug in the handle - to avoid trapping it I have widened the slot where the cable ends up and make sure I open up the slot and guide the cable. A further refinement would be adding an end cap.

Brilliant. Thanks for sharing. I see my S Series (330) is about to get a new addition! - I'll go for a black pipe and add some go faster stipes to make it look more "Pro" though (just kidding!)
