Sennheiser DC2 Power Convertor
Sennheiser | DC2 - DC Camera Power Converter | DC2 | B&H Photo
Does any of you guys use this power unit? I'm thinking about ordering one to have continuous power on the Sennheiser EW G2 receiver with my Sony S270. The B&H description says it's meant for the transmitter but I think they mean the receiver? The external power supply from the camera Somebody any idea what power voltage this unit requires? Can it handle 12V (4-pin external power on the back of the S270) or 14.8V (directly from the battery)? |
The DC-2 can actually be used for both the receiver or the transmitter. It comes with a replacement baterycover that alows the cable to pass through. It works with any voltage between 6 and 18 volt. It has no connector so you have to solder your own. This is actually an advantage because you can choose the connector that fits your camera.

Does this DC-2 also work on the new G3 series?
|
I would think so since the case and power requirements are the same.

I've ordered the DC2 power convertor now. Somebody any idea if it's a good idea to connect it to the 12V DC-OUT plug on the back of my S270?
http://www.sonybiz-images.net/downlo...t=422&pic=7978 I mean the 4-pin mail jack on the left bottom of the picture above. Does someone have any idea where I can order a single plug for this jack? The stores specialized in small electronics nearby don't have a plug like this. |
That connector is a Hirose 4 pin connector (HR100-ND). Not available in every 'just around the corner' electronics store, but you can order them online or at a specialist shop.

Mario,
Do you think this combination of Sennheiser EW100 G2, DC2 powerconvertor and Hirose HR100-ND connector will work to have continious and stable power on the EW100 from my camera? So that the sound receiver turns on and off similtaniously with the S270? |
I am not sure the 12V output is switched on the camera (i would suppose so). But the output is surely stable enough for the G2/G3. There is a voltage control in the DC2.
