K-TEK GPS shock mount too big for Sennheiser 416?

I don't mean the size of the rubber bands, I mean the distance between the them, which seems to be about 6 inches. But the pick up rivets on the sennheiser are covered by the rubber band unless i scoot the GPS all the way to the end, but then the end shock band is barely on (aside from the XLR which gives it another inch or so)

does this make sense?

if you look here:

the black band is not on the rivet and has plenty of space to spare behind the last one before reaching the XLR output. mine is right on the edge.
