Simple (?) Audio Connection Question

This may sound like a simple question, but I'm not so sure. I have an audio cassette I need to transfer into my computer as an audio track (I use Vegas 5). What connections are needed between a typical cassette deck and a computer? Somehow I feel I'm complicating the possibilities when it just might be one simple type cable/wire--but which one? Thanks.

Hi Barry,
This what I do. I pick out a software program where you input .wav or mp3 through the inline mini jack on your sound card. I had to run to radio shack for a few adapter but it works fine. I use musicmatch jukebox to do this. There is a free version to test this method at thier website.

Good luck!!

Thanks for the tip.

I'm still a bit slow on the uptake though--you mean the mini jack from an audio cassette player needs an adapter to plug into the computer's sound card outlet?

Yes sir,
If you already have a jack that fits your cassette player then you will need something to make the other end fit the computers sound card. Someone correct me if I am wrong but I think the computer end takes a 1/8 plug. If you tell the guy at the store what you are doing he can proably fix ya up.
