Looking for a good handheld

That's a handheld with built-in windscreen and insulation from hand rustling. A cardioid or super cardioid with as flat a response as possible. I own several mics, although they all have their strong points, none have built-in wind screen/pop reducer and/or insulation. I need this mic to be good for voice as well as sound effects recording.

I know this is a tall order in such a short message but with the holidays at hand my time for typing is limited.

Hey, the dog is eating the gifts! Later..

Oz

PS - okay, we stopped the dog in time. While I'm at it, I'm also looking for a portable digital audio recorder. I've seen and worked with the Marantz PMD670 which is great although a tad clunky for what it needs to do. I got used to my old Sony DAT Walkman recorder - no XLR input and a battery hog, but just the right size.

Oh no, now the dog is after the cookies!!!

The only Cardiod mic that I can think of with the features you are looking for is the Sennheiser MD-46

Any handheld that's tuned for voice should work. I use an AKG D230, it's an omni, but that's not going to make a great deal of difference. Most ENG style handhelds have a built in rubber suspension and a foam and mesh grill. You'll still need a foam pop filter.
