Sound from School Assemblies

I have a new job for a local school district. Some of my responsibilities include filming certain assemblies at different high schools and then editing the film to create DVD’s.

I’m looking for ideas of a wireless transmitter I can connect to the school’s mixer to broadcast to a receiver that I plug into the camcorder for the sound. The school often use a few microphones for the sound system in the auditorium. I was hoping to tap into that sound system for the video. I used the microphone attached to the camcorder for the first assembly I recorded. While the sound was good, I picked up too much background noise. Any ideas of a maker or a good system to use?

I use a Canon XL-1. Thank you very much.

I'm a big fan of the Audio Technica tools. If it's rack mounted, look at the 7000 series, or if you need portable receiver, look at the U100 product. I've got both, both seem to be bullet proof. I've actually got 12 of the 9000's that we use on various touring shows, never a failure yet. Just a couple replaced antenna mounts due to bad handling by stage hands.
