Need a shoe mount that moves my shotgun to the side.

I'm going crazy searching for this. I know something must exist, I just can't seem to find it.

With my shotgun mic and my FX1, when the mic is on the normal shoe mount the beck of the mic keeps the LCD screen from being able to close (if it's open) or open if it's shut.

I need something that will give me a shoe mount about 2 inches to the side of where the current one is. That's it.

I've got a shock mount for my mic, so I don't need an adapter that has one, all I need is a shoe mount two inches to the side of the current one.

Anyone know of anything?

Thanks!

Here's a cheap solution:

Jim,

That would work if it were a bit longer. That doesn't look like it would move my mic over but maybe 1/2 an inch or so.

Something like that, but with a longer reach to the side would be perfect.

How about the mini-Rover? http://tinyurl.com/6nmdt
Sorry to anyone who's tired of me pimping that thing, but it's one of my favorite accessories. I'm always taping and velcroing stuff to the arm. It's like a little utility shelf.

Maybe I'm asking for the world here (though I wouldn't have thought so) but nothing that requires attaching it to the bottom of the camera and wrapping around is really going to work.

Maybe I'll have to fashion one myself.

If you don't mind antlers

I use this unit and it measures 2 5/8" from center of the shoe to center of the attachment mount on the horizontal arm. You can cut off the vertical part.

Thanks David, that looks like it would work well.

Just wondering, it says it gives you three shoe mounts. Where's the third? I only see two in the picture.

If you are going to make one yourself, here are a few ideas.

Testrite has other parts that can be of interest.

With these, you can use 1/16" aluminum sheeting to make small bars (quite rigid, but still malleable enough to be shaped with pliers).

Good luck

François

On top of the vertical

The top of the picture is chopped off. It's on the top. Here is another picture complete with mounted accessories.

That's a freakin' serious mount.

I'll almost feel bad chopping it down.
