GL2 Purchase advice

I have recently been given budget to begin the creation of a video production group in my church. We are pretty ambitious for a small team, but we have been very successful to date in putting together video productions that range anywhere from interviews, documentaries and some scripted location shooting. The equipment we had was loathsome and it showed. (Sony DCR-TRV150, a cheap tripod and Pinnacle Studio). Especially the audio.

However, it seems we were successful enough to have someone donate $4,000 to make improvements.

I would like to know your thoughts on the audio components that I want to buy in addition to the Canon GL2. All comments are welcome. I am hoping to pounce very soon....

For location shooting and some interviews:
2 Sennheiser gl2-100 lavalier microphones.

For interviews and some documentary purposes
1 Audio-Technica shotgun mic (AT835B)

Questions:
1) Are these quality mics for the money?
2) How well do they work with the Canon GL2?
3) What acessories do I need to make them work with the GL2?
4) Are there any other recommendations?

thank you in advance.

That's a nice budget for audio. But I'd resist the understandable urge to "pounce" and post your inquiry in the Now Hear This forum. Maybe Ken or Robin will move this post to that forum, because the advice you need really isn't GL2 specific, and there is a lot of expertise over there. I can tell you that you'll need an XLR adaptor (such as the DXA-6 or DXA-8 at www.beachtek.com) and some XLR cable in order to accept the signals from the pro equipment and feed it into the GL2's mic jack.

Moderator's Note: Good suggestion, Fred. Much better topical exposure here.

Thank you very much. I appreciate your response.

Regarding the XLR connector, I am considering the Canon MA-300 for the Sennheisers and shotgun to connect to (not simultaneously). Will that work?
