Lectrosonics + Redrock: Rear Rx Mounting?
 

Hey all, wondering if anyone's come up with a good mounting solution for a Lectro wireless receiver on a Redrock Micro rails kit, specifically for rear-mounting on a shoulder-shooting kit. My UCR401 needs a home, and it's not on my DSLR hot shoe (otherwise I'd use a BEC holder and hot shoe kit)...I want to mount as much kit behind the shoulder as is possible to help distribute weight. Any thoughts?

Maybe I am missing something but what camera are you using on this rig? Usually rig the mics to the camera body but in your case it is not clear.

The cameras I'll be using - the XH A1 and the 7D - don't have handy places on the bodies for these items. I will probably just get a Redrock cheeseplate or, dare I say it, velcro to solve this issue. Heck, I'll probably be recording to a SD702 so the Lectro Rx may just need to stay in the audio bag after all...

Hey Nathan, did you come up with an elegant solution for this?

I'm facing the same dilemma and am thinking velcro (or the dual link tape that comes with the Lectro) might be the best way. Or did you find something else?

A little crazy that the brackets and mounting boxes are like $80 a piece for this stuff.

I haven't, Peter, no, although it depends on the camera.

For the 7D, it'd be total double-system audio, so I'd have an SD702 tethered on a nearby stand or over my opposite shoulder, in which case the Lectro Rx stays in the bag.

For the XH A1, though, I'd run the audio right into the camera. The trick is aligning the antennae in the same way as the Tx (a best practice), otherwise I'd just velcro the thing down. So far I'm thinking a soft case that would loop around the rear rails and hang downwards, leaving the antennae vertical. My significant other is looking at this as a sweet sewing project!
