ME66 vs ME67
 

Hello Everyone :-)


Does anyone here have experience with the ME66 And the ME67

Are the difference drastic in your experience

Better/worst for your purposes

What purpose would that be

I have both mics which I just recently bought. I can however tell you with the limited testing I have done is that the ME67 is MUCH more directional than the ME66. It seems to have a much more narrow polar pattern than the ME66. The ME66 almost seems like a hyper cardoid compared to the ME67. But again this is just from the very limited testing I have done with them. Also, the sound with both seems to be a little thin but this can be a matter of taste.

Unfortunately, I have not used them both enough to give you any more details than that.

I am going to buy one or the other tonight or tomorrow. I like the narrow aspect of the ME67, but it may not be appropriate for this next shoot. I may have to get far away from the talent, which the ME67 would be more appropriate for, but I may want to get high above them and point the mic down between 2 or 3 actors to pick up all of their dialog.

I know the ME66 would be better for the group dialog, but is the ME67 totally wrong???

I know you just got the mic, but in your limited experience, would you venture a guess??

Could anyone else chime in as well??

Depending how far apart the actors are standing from each other, the ME67 could be a good choice. If you have an experienced boom operator, you could get good sound with the ME67. If there is alot of overlapping dialog AND the actors are standing far apart that would cause a problem with the ME67 and I would be more inclined to go with the ME66 in that case.

That would be the better idea.

Two ME67's are what I'm going to go with, plus a couple of ME64's for indoors. I may get two ME66's later if need be, but I think I'll be set.

If you can afford it, you can't have enough michrophones :-)
