High end versus Squid

I just recieved my Giant Squid mono mics for my Irivers, and am blown away! I did a small test with my camcorder and new mic setup, ran the audio from the Iriver through Garagebands filters, synced up, and pressed play... unbelievable!!!

So now I'm wondering, how would purchasing a set of the cardoid mics, or the stereo omni/cardoid mics compare to something like the AT822? I actually have an AT822 in the mail on the way, and also own a crapy Azden shotgun... do you guys think these Squidly mics could be good replacements? I'd like to save the money/space if possible...

Thanks,

Matt

I don't see how one replaces the other, they are totally different in sound profile and whatthey do. The squid stereo setup is meant to be used for "stealth" concert recording (clip one mic over each ear) whereas the AT stereo mic is doing its M-S phase thing. Likewise a shotgun has a different acceptance profile than a lav, totally different room sound. I have all three in my kit.

Cool... thanks. That's kind of what I was thinking, but don't really understand the science of mics and thought I'd ask just to be sure.
