Phantom power supply for NTG-3 to use with PCM - D50
 

I am looking for a phantom power supply to use with the Sony PCM - D50 and a Rode NTG - 3.
According to Rode, the supply has to be able to supply 6 mA at 48 v which apparently some available units are incapable of.
There is a circuit board available from: - sound.westhost.com -what other options are there?

Thanks for that Allan, however I cannot see myself ever using both inputs but I will keep it in mind.

Do you know anything about about the Behringer Micro PS 400, it is single input, slightly smaller and has a 12 volt DC in socket?

Why not treat your mic to a good preamp? Audio Devices MM-1 is the way to go. Can run on 2 AA batteries and is dead quiet. Headphone out and a couple of other nifty tricks too. It'll sound much better than any camera's preamp.

BTW, I have the NTG-3 and MM-1 and LOVE IT. I can also hook it to my Sennheiser wireless transmitter to make the boom op completely wireless. Works great!

Thanks Robert, the MM-1 looks very interesting.

The pre-amp could be very useful as I have a lot of problems with "base level noise" when using the PCM-D50 in a very quiet environment at gain settings levels higher than 4 out of 10 on the gain scale.

I am using the Juicedlink CX231 with my PCM-D50 and the performance is excellent!

I would like to thank everyone for the food for thought. I have ordered a Sound Devices MM-1. It would seem to be a good time to buy one, at least in this country as the price has just dropped by around $100.
