battery power options for mic pre-amp?

Hi

Does anyone know of a battery option that i could buy for my studio microphone pre-amps? I have several good ones that run off standard AC wall-warts that supply DC power to the pre-amp. I thought if i can use battery power on my pre-amps i can save some money for field use.

many thanks for any pointers.

Depends, of course, on what your preamp needs for power. FWIW, I made several battery packs for field use for Rolls mixer/preamps, which take 12 volts at very small amperage, from 8-cell AA battery holders, some wire and cable ties, and the appropriate output connector, all bought at my local Radio Shack (tandy, I believe, in GB). Worked fine for recording pool feeds and other ad-hoc stuff such as that....of course, have to treat these gently, they're not rugged military-spec gear, but works in a pinch. You could get fancy with the basic battery holder and enclose it in a case of some sort, I suppose.../ Battle Vaughan

Sherif,

I knew I wanted a belt pack for the audio person. I added up the power needs of the equipment I wanted to use and this was the one I chose.
