Help with Edirol R-4 Pro file management

I'm I dense or something? I can't figure out how to make my files save to the folder I created (on the R-4). Manual seems obtuse. I'm on a shoot with this recorder provided and the DIT wants nice neat files for each day's shooting. So do I. Argh.

The files are saved to a folder named according to the project name you set in the System menu, as:

System | Recording Setup | Project Name.

The Project Name setting just contains an entry like "Name 1", "Name 2", etc.

Those names are set in the System | Project Name menu. You can name your project just about anything you like.

When you record, the recorder creates a new directory named <your project name>_<sequential number> for each take ( assuming you're recording multiple tracks -- if you're only recording one track, then you get individual WAV files with the <project_name>_<sequential number>.WAV as the name).

For a two-track project called "Ambulance", you would see this after two takes:

Ambulance_001
1.wav
2.wav

Ambulance_002
1.wav
2.wav

... and so forth

So, make sure that your project name is set in an entry in the Project Name menu, note the entry name ("Name 1", or whatever ), and set the Project Name under the Recording Setup menu. That should do it.

Cheers

Thanks Stephen. The problem apparently was that every time you turn off the recorder the files default save to the root directory, not the folder which has to be re-selected every time you power off. Anybody else experience this with this recorder? It's annoying, especially since it's not really practical to use onboard battery power with this recorder. It drains really fast.
