How they compare: Lectrosonics SRA vs 411A receivers

Hello,

I'm primarily an audio guy though I find myself doing more and more video too.

My primary audio rig is a Sound Devices 744T. Typically I'm running an M/S pair on Channels 1 and 2, and running two channels of Lectrosonics wireless on 3 and 4.

Currently I'm using 2 SM transmitters (one is actually the 250mW SMQV variety). For receivers I'm using 2 Lectro UCR411As. Both of my wireless rigs are iBlock 22.

I'm considering abandoning the two UCR411As in favor of a single Lectro SRA receiver. I like the idea of being able to use a Lithium Ion Battery sled, and to reduce the overall footprint in my bag. I also am about to purchase a Canon XA10 video camera, and having a single receiver would be most helpful if I need to use 2 channels of wireless direct to the camera. Plus I think I can easily sell the two UCR411s and purchase one SRA with enough money for a nice dinner left over :)

I've read some conflicting reports about how the UCR411a and the SRA actually compare though.

Some of the features I love about the 411As are the ability to scan the spectrum for RF traffic, seeing the voltage of both transmitter and receiver, reception meter, etc. How many of these features are available on an SRA? Are all of the settings completely discrete between the 2 channels in an SRA? Is the availabe output gain range (about 60 dB) the same? Any difference in reception?

I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience with both (and yes I've read the lectro threads here - just wanted a touch more detail!).

Thanks!
Chris

411a's are better than the SRa's and the SRa's are better than 401s in terms of reception. That's a known fact and even brought forward by the Lectro President.
