What Mic?

Hey Guys, i seem to have hit a mental block and just cant think any more. Ive basically bought a Canon 550D, and most of my shots will be out door either at an events party or in a cafe. Since i will need to focus and possibly zoom the Canon seems to pick up the lens moving. Now im told its best to get an external mic to cut it out.

What im confused over is what to get, my budget is around the £120 mark and im looking for something that will help me capture the best audio. Ill show you some of our past interviews, YouTube - ‪Shizzio opens up about the Wiley diss and Asian Girls‬‏ (Note sure why it was shot in Mac D's, the artist wanted it), YouTube - ‪WIN a SIGNED copy of Alesha Dixon's new single 'Every Little Part of Me'‬‏ (Shot in a studio), YouTube - ‪UK Asian Music Awards 2011: Jay Sean, Jernade Miah, Jaz Dhami, Mumzy, PBN & Preeya Kalidas‬‏ (shot in an awards thing, for some reason no tripod was used)

Anyway that gives a bit of an idea of out use, I was thinking it was best to use a hand held microphone and possibly stick our logo on it and make it look like Sky News kind of think when they are out, but i was then suggested to use a directional video mic since the user would need to keep the mic closer to there mouth and clips on youtube suggested poor audio. I was looking at the Rode video mic but it seems to have some issue with the stand or something causing it to hiss?

Im just confused as to what to get and what is good. I was wondering if some of you would be kind enougth to tell me what would be suitable for my general use and what you would recomend in my price range.

Thanks

Re: What Mic?

For a situation like the first and second videos, you really need a wired or wireless lav mic. For the third video, a handheld mic with a flag and logo on it would be most appropriate. Skip the VideoMic unless you have a boom operator or are doing run and gun news.
