Sennheiser G2 Static
Hi,
Recently both of my G2's have developed a problem, When connected to my EX3 with Phantom power on there is terrible loud static sound. When I turn the Phantom power off the static goes away but the output from the mics are very low and to get a decent level you start adding a lot of noise. I have used these for years and they have been fine, I have swapped cables out with a working G2 and no joy, I have re-soldered the joints where the Mini Jack meets the PCB checked everything I can. I dont know if anyone else has had a similar issue like this that could help shed some light on the situations. Any help would be much appreciated: A sample of the sound if recorded is here, its a little quiet so you might want to crank your speakers up however this is peaking in the camera meters: http://www.jamesblackburn.co.uk/g2static.mp3 James |

The first batch did not have the blocking capacitor that blocks phantom power. How have you set the output level of the receivers? - it is adjustable from mic. level up to line level. The phantom power does nothing at all to the receiver except as a cause of possible damage - it should always be switched off if possible. |
