Background Music, Soundtracks & Sound Effects?

Believe it or not, I spent the better part of Saturday driving around Dallas trying to find CD's w/ this content to use for video editing and I found NONE.

Question. Where do you find your background music? Online? If so, which do you like?

Thanks?

Try SmartSound

Royalty Free Music and Sound Effects Library with Soundtrack Editing Software Products

or Digital Juice

Digital Juice - The Best Products and Prices for Video & Graphics Professionals

There are plenty of others, I have used both of the above and found the quality to be first class.

Just take a look at each one's terms of use and see what they include. Generally most Royalty Free music can be used for anything, check the small print to confirm.

Music and FX to use for broadcast is easy to find. FREE OF CHARGE for use for broadcast is a lot more difficult if you're looking for good musical quality. But with many royalty-free libraries such as the aformentioned SmartSounds the licensing fees are very reasonable.

John Williams also writes his own as does Hans Zimmer and others. Not everyone has their talent so stock or Royalty Free music has to fill in the gap.

Well, mostly I search for music in my own music library - because I have a lot of stuff and GB :D and if I want to use something for some kind of independent film or just for short movies I am writing to agencies asking for permission of using various songs. They are actually nicer than one would ever think :)

Pleased to hear it Sara, I was quoted £400 for a 30 second clip, licence to last for one year. Not all publishers are as generous as we would hope for.

I found a site called Royalty Free Music Library from premiumbeat.com a few weeks ago and it is great. Easy to find the music you need and 90% of the music is fantastic. I have already finished three projects with music from there.

I frequently use Killer Tracks - they have a good selection, but you gotta buy a few of their collections to have a good base as they sell them by genre and I need a lot to fit the variety of stuff I produce.

Someone mentioned: Royalty Free Music for Productions I agree, it's great. Choose "Quicktracks" in the menu to customize music online

Another vote for Audio Jungle. We use it quite a bit.
