audio equipment, suggestion to flight with, (cases boarding etc)

Hi i have never taken on board any equipment except my laptop, i have been hired from a production and I will have to flight abroad, I am worried about equipment, how to carry them with me,
professional cases are very expensive, and honestly i dont want to spend 1000 € for 3 top cases, so i thouhgt to carry with me in cabin, recorder and mics and to board, clothes, cables, batteries, charger, boom accessories, in not such expensive cases, but 2 common trolleys
what is your experiences.

do you have any suggestions.?

Re: audio equipment, suggestion to flight with, (cases boarding etc)

Haven't done any international travel outside the US lately, but I carry-on one bag with my main production gear: i.e., mixer, mics, recorder, wireless systems. Everything else, (including the 'fish pole') gets checked with camera's gear if that's an option or in a separate case. Lately I have been shipping the 'checked' gear ahead via UPS or FedEx. If traveling within the US, check the TSA's ( and your air carrier's) latest restrictions and alerts. Pay attention to the lithium-ion batteries reg.s if applicable. Other tips: Avoid using the terms, "Shotgun", "Boom", "Wireless and Radio".

I think you will find it useful to read this thread on Gearslutz: Good carry-on case for gear? where this has been discussed in great detail with lots of good suggestions.

I don't normally recommend threads on other forums - but as this is the exact same question and the discussion on the GS thread is very good, it seems silly to repeat it all again here.
