Rode SVM Pro?
Anyone had any experience with the Rode Stereo Video Mic Pro yet? I use the SVM a lot so am excited by the new version and one tends to assume with Rode it will be a winner, but one should never take things for granted...

Re: Rode SVM Pro?
I was told by someone on the Rode stand at BVE in Earl's Court last week that we won't see them for sale in the UK until late March/early April. Sure looked nice though. I have the original SVM and many other Rodes (and just got a Rode Lav yesterday) as they certainly tend to "deliver" good quality at a reasonable price with a stunning guarantee policy.

Re: Rode SVM Pro?
Hi,
For somebody who is not 100% clued up about audio but needs to attach a good mic on a DSLR would you purchase the Stereo Video Mic Pro or the Rode VideoMic Pro. Will I be getting much higher quality audio with the new version? I am also shooting at a lot of events where the DJ's are blasting out the music! |
Re: Rode SVM Pro?
The stereo version is best when you can put the mic on a stand and you want to capture the ambient sound. The mono version is best when you want it on camera and/or you are capturing dialog.

The Rode SVMPro is arriving all over the place, here's a quick review .. ..

Re: Rode SVM Pro?
Thanks Allan - a quick google search shows it's now on sale in the UK at about £180.
As an aside, the B&H 'review' is nothing more than a sales pitch as are most such videos so I suspect we will have to wait a little for a genuine review. |
Re: Rode SVM Pro?
CVP don't have it in stock until early April, and they're normally pretty spot-on with release dates.
