Need new studio monitors

Hi all. I do mostly location audio work, but occasionally do some post work and also music recording and mixing. I've been working with a pair of Event TR-5 near-field monitors for a long time, maybe 8 years now. Anyway, one of my Event's has died, and rather than try to get it repaired, I thought this might be a good excuse to look into something with more bass response. The Event's are ok, but they are lacking in bass, for sure.

What I'm looking for is to hear from actual users of specific monitors. What do you like about them? What could be better? Since I'm just collecting information at this point, I don't have a price range in mind. Realistically, I'd like to keep it at or under $1000 for a pair. Looking to step up a notch, at least.

Andy .. I have the Adam A7 love 'em till I heard the A7X oh brother! They're within your budget and you could add their sub. Check the reviews.

I find those Auralex MoPADS isolation pads are definately worth the money too.

Cheers.

The best bang for the buck in quality monitors seems to be the new Neumann KH120A - though these are a little above your budget.

However, these replaced the superb K+H O110 and you may be able to pick up a s/h pair of these within your budget - these are excellent and highly recommended.

Personally, I use the small Geithain RL906 on location - but these are about x3 your budget I think.
