Oktava 012 Hack?

Does anyone have a link to the 012 hack or hacks that are available?

Thanks!

I anxiously await finding out what the heck you're talking about :>)

Rob Hester mentioned back in may that someone from the board provided him with a "hack". I remember seeing other references to it earlier than that, but there were a whole lot of posts regarding the 012, so I'm taking a shortcut here.

I'll keep looking. Maybe the right combination of search terms will bring up what I'm looking for.

Okay, I ran another search and came up with:

Getting closer. I'll post more as I find it.

You can try the pro.audio.rec newsgroup. You can access that through google groups, or trewaudio.com.

Try searching for oktava mod too.

But what would a microphone "hack" accomplish? When I hear the word "hack" I usually think of breaking the copy protection on software or unlocking hidden or disabled features on some hardware, like altering a DVD player to make it region-free. What does the hack you're looking for do that the microphone doesn't already do?

From what I understand, the mod smooths the response curve and reduces electronic noise.

It involves soldering on the board and a couple FETs, but that's all I know.
