It sounds very nice and if you can make it for a reasonable cost it could be a viable alternative to the ME2.

One note is the clip and I find those single post onto the base design very fragile and have broken several rode types, a right angled fixture is more robust as per the sony types or like this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Metal-Blac...item35c2457a76

Personally I use these low cost mic's as spares and for situations where the mic may get damaged: UltraDisk 4016 Sennheiser Screw Lock thread 3.5mm Lavalier Tie Clip microphone | eBay

They state unidirectional but they are pretty much Omni and also work well upside down!

the microphone clip is as stable as the clip that bundled with G3 ME-2 lav.

it's not two piece lock with clamp as ebay link, This one got welded. and I think this clip is made out of stainless.

I've seen this UltraDisk mic before. The sound is so dry and not present much.

the capsule that i've use on my mic is similar to ME-2. but more respond to bass and high-end.

Thanks for comment.

Stainless is not the right material for mic clips as it is too brittle and that is why they snap off, it needs to be brass so it has some flexibility. The sony ones can even be twisted to make them horizontal or vertical but try that with a rode clip and it will break straight off.
