SD 633: Trying to understand and work Poly Wav.

Greeting all.

My SD 633 has the ability to record Poly Wav and PolyMono Wav files.

It may be easier to describe what I am trying to end up with:

Let's say I have three mics going into channels 1, 2, and 3. I've named ch. 1 LAV on the mixer, chan. 2 BOOM, and chan. 3 SHOTGUN. The names show in the channels display. All panned center to be mixed in post. Three seperate "tracks" if you will.

There is also a L/R mix.

What I would like to end up with is a file(s) that I can take into FCP or Logic and I would see those three named channels/tracks, along with the L/R mix, but the mix isn't as important. I could then adjust/mix the levels of the three imported (and named) tracks in post.

Is there some setting that I should be aware of? My first test was with a single mic in one input, and I ended up with six tracks! And to make things confusing, the tracks had names like TO1_wav, TO2.wav, TO3.wav and so on, so I don't know what is what.

Is this a Poly Wav file or a Poly Mono file. Can someone with experiance with this help an old dog?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Jonathan

That is actually a FCP software question, not exactly an audio question.
You would have much better results if you posted your question in an FCP forum like the one here....

FCP is not an audio application. Even less so w/ FCP-X.
The only NLE that I know of that has sophisticated audio capabilities is Sony's Vegas Pro.. In fact it was a DAW prior to video being added way back in Vegas 3.0.

Thanks guys.

I guess I was looking for the right settings for this workflow.

I do keep up with FCP.co forum and they are really great over there. I can confirm from reliable sources that Poly wav files work in FCP X, which is what I'm editing in.
