Quicktime Woes

Quicktime is giving me major headaches here after re-installing both versions 6 and 7. Audio on both ver 6 and 7 sound garbled. What is weird is the audio sounds garbled on my RME Multiface 2 and my Mbox, however on my Plantronics SP500 headset the audio sounds fine, go figure on that one.\

When I install Quicktime Alternative ver 1.67, the audio plays fine.

Any suggestions?

I did find this repspone in the RME Newsgroup

quicktime 6 works fine with the hdsp 9632. just set the playback-device
in the preferences to "waveOut: HDSP ..." instead of "waveOut: preferred
device".

quicktime 7 doesn't work at the moment. here some posts i've found in
the lynx support forums:

"This is clearly a bug with the QuickTime player because it is setting
our driver to 8-bit stereo even for 16-bit stereo files (I can see this
in my debugger). I bet if Apple fixed this bug in the QTPlayer it would
work fine."

"It's odd that with QT7, there is now multi-channel support but no
ability to hand-pick driver devices. Hopefully this will all be remedied
in a future update."

"Apple apparently is aware of this problem (this isn't the only card
that it happens to) and we'll be working with them to resolve it. Stay
tuned ..."
