What can I do about cellphone interferance?

I was on a shoot the other day, and I had my shootgun and a wireless going, I got a cellphone hum over my headset and then switched my wireless to hard line mic. I still was getting problems, but producer said keep going. Has anyone encountered this problem before and if so, what have you done to remedy it?

Thank ya.

Someone on or close by the set had a cellphone turned on. Cell phones transmit a "here I am" signal every few minutes whenever they're turned on, whether they're in use or not. The only solution is all cell phones near the set must be completely turned off any time you're rolling.

yeah that's it. They 'handshake' with the local transmitter every few minutes.

Just turn it off. It's the only way.
