Howdy, audio experts!

Recently, my Marantz PMD-660 (Oade Bro's Advanced Mod) came in and I have been doing lots of testing with it. So far I am VERY impressed with the sound.

Now I have some basic questions for you guys with regards to playback.

Being a common-sense dude I basically play a video trailer or sound file and, while playing, adjust the computer sound until it's comfortable, then go into my NLE or audio editor, etc. and adjust my sound effect or dialog volume to closely match that of the first sound. Basically I'm using a "pro" recording as a watermark to gauge where my volume should be. Sounds wonky but it has worked ok.

However, I would like to know some specific things like...

- Where should my computer system volume / WAV volume (Volume Control in Windows) be? .... 50%?
- What -dB should the sound peak at, according to the level monitor in the NLE or sound mixer?

Also, I should mention that I prefer to monitor with headphones primarily and listen to the over-the-speaker sound occasionally.

Thanks for any advice on this!

Half - 50%

Looks like -12dB is the answer. Should be safe with that.
