SoundTrack Pro - glitches in recording. Have you had this?

Coles Lip mic into Edirol UA-25 into Mac PowerBook running SoundTrack Pro 1.0.2 with QT 7.1.2.

Elevator Pitch: STP seems to create gaps in recording every 50-70 seconds that sound like a bad edit.

Tried altering setups; frequency of gaps variable. Tried using different software - no gaps.

Anyone else experienced this? Know the cure?

According to Apple, the cure is to "crossgrade to the Universal edition", which "may address these issues". It's not paying for the update that wrankles, its the 4 week wait, the hassle of backing up disks, taking a trip to the Post Office for recorded deliver, the post and packing costs - and four weeks before I get to record 48KHz reliably in SoundTrack Pro.

I'll buy Garage Band tomorrow - at least that works.
