Sennheiser K6 Connector Question

Does the K6 terminate in a female or male XLR? I can't find it listed on the sennheiser site or others I look at probably because it so standard they figure it doesn't need to be listed. Course I have no idea what the standard is and I don't want to be ordering the wrong cable. Thanks in advance.

BTW It be nice to have a seperate audio forum rather then just the specific XL1 audio one.

Can one of you audio guys answer Brian's question?

And we are working up a dedicated general audio production forum.

Rob Wilson March 10th, 2003 09:56 AM

The K6 Power module is a standard size male XLR.

Thanks Rob, and sounds great about the audio forum Chris I appreciate all the work you guys put in here.

That's great news about the Audio Forum! Thanks, Chris.

I just took a photo of the k6 power module and the cable you'll need, with my cell phone and emailed it to you.

I'm a little confused, with XLR cables, which is the male, the one with the 3 pins sticking out and the other with the holes is the female, or the one with the 3 holes which fits into the other one is the male.

Thanks for the pic, the male end has the plugs sticking out while the female end has the holes. Goes for all connectors as far as I know.

wow - if we weren't such a mature group . . .

speaking of xlr cable, other than b&h is there someplace that specializes in cables for good prices?

David Mintzer March 14th, 2003 08:42 AM

mark you can buy them at any audio related store or internet site------I just picked up a couple at Sam Ash but I know there are many sites that sell them---fullcompass, marketek--etc.

This is a pretty comprehensive list od what's available

This site has a lot of articles and a pretty comprehensive set of catalogs online.

Rik, the whole male/femail thing is analogous to sexes in humans. Males have the protruding bits, females have the holes.

Jeff Donald March 16th, 2003 10:09 PM

Not wanting to speak for Rik, but I can see where the confusion arises. The end with the hole (female) plugs into the end with the prongs (male). The female end acts like a male in plugging into the male end. I'm not sure any of that makes any sense, so it ought to be sufficiently confusing.

Rik Sanchez March 17th, 2003 02:55 AM

Jeff,
up to this point I had the two mixed up, the female plug does seem like the male. Jeff, I'm glad you understood what I was trying to say, no one else did, or maybe I just didn't explain it right. Anyway, thanks for clearing that up for me.
