What filter/process for creating source music cues in post?

I have a scene where I want to drop music in and make it sound as if it were coming from a tiny radio in the corner of the room. This will be very quiet, perceptable, but easily ignored music. How does one do this in Adobe Audition or Premiere Pro?

Hi Williams,

The best thing you could do is to get the music onto a CD-R and record it playing from a portable/mini CD player - you know the sort of thing. Then just import the recording into Premiere.

Otherwise, I would just look for a Hi Pass filter/EQ and remove as much of the bottom end as required to achieve the sound you are looking (listening) for. Maybe also add a nasty boost somewhere in the mid-EQ range to simulate the sort of crappy speaker it might be playing through.

Another solution might be to use a convolution plug-in. I'm on a Mac though so can't really advise here.

The other thing you need to consider is the 'sound' of the room it is playing in, which is another reason why recording the music though a portable CD player in-situ would be a neat solution.

Good luck

Colin
